Success for Ahmad Mansour: Berlin Regional Court Upholds Preliminary Injunction Against taz Editor to Stop Making Statements Violating Personal Rights

Another success for Ahmad Mansour: The Berlin Regional Court has issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting a prominent editor of the German daily “taz” from further disseminating defamatory statements about Ahmad Mansour.

The journalist had stated on the “X” platform regarding an interview with Ahmad Mansour published in “Welt”:

“Ahmad Mansour has lived in Germany for 20 years. His racism and radicalization worry me. How can our society protect itself against this?”

The taz editor filed an appeal against the preliminary injunction issued by the Berlin Regional Court on May 14, 2025. In the further course of the proceedings, the Regional Court upheld the preliminary injunction in its judgment of July 9, 2025. The taz editor acknowledged the ruling as final.

The Berlin Regional Court clarified in its decision that the disputed statement constitutes a serious violation of personal rights. It suggested, without sufficient factual basis, that Ahmad Mansour espouses racist or radical ideas – a claim that lacks any substantive foundation.

Norman Nathan Gelbart, Managing Partner of Gelbart Legal: “With the successful enforcement of the injunctions, a clear signal was sent against the dissemination of unfounded and defamatory accusations of racism and radicalization in the public sphere.”

Ahmad Mansour: “I am very satisfied with the ruling. Anyone who abandons the principle of objectivity, even on highly controversial topics, in favor of polemics and defamatory slander, must not hide behind the precious asset of freedom of expression.”
